If you’re looking for some motivation and want to develop your running, this is just for you!
We have a running group that meets at the Centre every Friday morning at 09:00. We welcome runners of all abilities from the first timer to the seasoned campaigner. The session lasts for 60 minutes and takes place in and around Downton. It consists of running drills, intervals and tips on running technique. The Group is led by Paul a UK Athletics Coach in Running Fitness and supported by Gus a Leader in Running Fitness.
The session costs just £5 and is free for members of the Centre. The Group meets up for coffee and cake, usually in the Borough Café, after the session #runhardeatcake.
Every so often members of the group take part in running events and some, who were beginners a couple of years ago, have just completed their first marathon or half marathon.

Running a race is usually a very individual experience. In the build up to the race, there may be some group training sessions that you take part in but a lot of the running is likely to be done on your own. On the day you will have set your own goal either in where you place or more likely the time that it takes you to finish. You may be part of a Club and there may be some team prizes.
